By visiting the site or submitting a request, you agree to these Terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These Terms include a dispute resolution section that affects how claims are handled, so please read it closely.
Service description
Northern Star Loan provides a free online service that collects loan requests and shares them with independent lenders and lending partners, who decide whether to present an offer for a personal loan between $500 and $5,000.
Northern Star Loan is not a lender and does not make credit decisions, issue loans, set rates or terms, or service loans. We do not act as your agent or represent any lender. Content on the site, including guides, calculators and rate ranges, is for general educational purposes and is not financial, legal or tax advice. Nothing on the site is an offer of credit or a solicitation in any jurisdiction where lending through our partners is not permitted.
Eligibility
Users must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in their state, be U.S. residents, and be legally able to enter into binding agreements in order to submit a request through the service.
Meeting these requirements does not mean a lender will make you an offer. Each lender sets its own criteria, which may include minimum income, credit history, state of residence and account requirements.
No promise of offers or terms
Northern Star Loan cannot promise that you will receive an offer, be approved, or qualify for any particular amount, rate, term or funding time, because those outcomes depend entirely on each lender.
Rate ranges, sample payments and timelines shown on the site are estimates and examples. Your actual APR, fees, payment amount and repayment schedule will be set out in a lender’s offer and loan agreement. Review those documents carefully before signing.
Your obligations
Users agree to provide accurate, current and complete information, to use the site only for lawful personal purposes, and not to interfere with the site’s operation or other users’ access.
- Submit requests only for yourself, using your own identity and contact details.
- Do not provide false, misleading or stolen information.
- Do not use bots, scrapers or automated tools to access the site or submit forms.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or data.
- Do not upload malicious code or interfere with security features.
- Do not use the site to send spam or unsolicited communications.
Providing false information to obtain credit may violate the law. We may refuse service, remove requests or block access if we believe these Terms have been broken.
Consent to share and contact
Borrowers who submit a request authorize Northern Star Loan to share their information with lenders and partners and agree that those parties may contact them about the request as described in our privacy policy.
Lenders may obtain your credit report and verify your information. Submitting a request typically involves a soft inquiry that does not affect your credit score, while a lender may run a hard inquiry if you proceed with an offer. You may withdraw consent to marketing contact at any time as explained in the Northern Star Loan privacy policy.
Third-party lenders
Lenders and partners in the Northern Star Lending network are independent businesses, and any loan agreement you sign is solely between you and that lender under the lender’s own terms and policies.
We are not responsible for a lender’s decisions, offers, conduct, products, fees, servicing or collection practices, or for the accuracy of information a lender provides. Questions about a loan you have received should go directly to your lender. We may receive compensation from lenders and partners, as explained in our advertiser and lending disclosure.
Electronic communications
Users agree to receive notices, disclosures and other communications from Northern Star Loan electronically, and those electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
Keep your email address and phone number current so you receive important messages about your request. You can save or print any notice we send you. Lenders may ask for separate consent to deliver loan documents electronically under their own terms.
Suspension and termination
Northern Star Loan may suspend or end your access to the site at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, provided false information or created risk for other users or partners.
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and dispute resolution, will continue to apply after your access ends.
Intellectual property
Northern Star Loan owns or licenses all content on the site, including text, graphics, logos, design, calculators and software, and that content is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to view and use the site for your own non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from site content without our written permission, except for brief quotations with attribution.
Disclaimers
Northern Star Loan provides the site and service “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components, or that information on the site is always complete or current. Some states do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these limits may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
Northern Star Loan and its owners, employees and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or any lender’s products.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the site or service will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100). Because the service is free to borrowers, these limits reflect a reasonable allocation of risk. Some states do not allow limits on certain damages, so these limits apply only to the extent the law allows.
Indemnification
Users agree to defend and hold harmless Northern Star Loan from claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from their misuse of the site, false information or violation of these Terms.
Governing law
Tennessee law governs these Terms and any dispute related to the site or service, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where federal law or the law of your state of residence requires otherwise.
Dispute resolution
Disputes with Northern Star Loan should first be raised informally with our support team, and most concerns can be resolved quickly by contacting us and describing the issue in writing.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, either party may pursue it through binding individual arbitration administered by a recognized arbitration provider under its consumer rules, unless you qualify to bring the claim in small claims court. Claims must be brought on an individual basis, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative proceeding, to the extent permitted by law. Arbitration will take place in Davidson County, Tennessee, or another location convenient to you, and may be conducted by phone or video where the rules allow. You may opt out of this arbitration provision by emailing us within 30 days of first using the service with your name and a statement that you decline arbitration.
Changes to these Terms
Northern Star Loan may revise these Terms from time to time, and the updated version will be posted on this page; continued use of the site after changes take effect means you accept them.
We may also modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the site or service at any time without notice.
General provisions
These Terms, together with our privacy policy and disclosures, form the entire agreement between you and Northern Star Loan about the site, and an unenforceable provision will not affect the rest.
Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a business transfer.
